Child custody for fathers goes sometimes unnoticed, especially when the wife normally gets awarded the primary physical custody of the child. Divorce can be one of the most traumatic experiences for a child; parents are a crucial part of every child’s upbringing and life. In a usual case scenario, the wife automatically has primary custody of the child, especially when the child is not of legal age yet. As a father, it is understandable to concern with this situation. In dealing with child custody rights for fathers, the priority in the court is what is best for the child. Upon figuring out what is best for the child, the court asks both parents who is the primary caregiver for the child in the relationship. In some scenarios, the court determines this by asking who is in charge of the child’s plans and activities, doctor appointments and daily routine (such as clothing, bathing, school, etc.). Having a routine or order for the child is important, especially with the divorce being so disorienting and chaotic.
